- You really must drink 8-12 glasses of water a day. Unfortunately, Jonah’s shakes, rum Cokes, Caribo’s iced raspberry espresso, and San Mig Lites do not count.
- Age does not matter. There are no age limits for partying in Cocomangas, riding a banana boat, or watching the sunset. Playing in the sand with a 14-year-old is just as fun as drinking beer with your 50-year-old boss.
- Nipp-less is a great modern-day invention. You feel a strange dislike for your bras in Boracay. (The ultra-feminists would be proud.)
- Keep your cellphone with you at all times. With the frequent blackouts, cellphone light can be handy while taking out your contact lenses, walking the steep slope down to Club Panoly, or finding your way back to your room.
- With or without “K”—a great body, that is—wear a bikini. You can show your future grandkids your pictures and convince them that you are one cool woman, er, grandma.
- Don’t be fooled by first impressions. Boyish-looking studs could be DOM-ish. Six-foot gorgeous bartenders could be college students. Gorgeous men could be gay. (Sigh!)
- When in Boracay, wear white. White is perfect for the summer heat. White goes with anything. White also attracts attention, especially on the dance floor or along the bar.
- If the grass is greener on the other side, the water is also clearer on the other side (of White Beach). Bunyugan Beach—next to Puka Beach, on the other side of the island—was crystal clear and lumot-free.
- It’s a small world after all. It’s great to run into old schoolmates, carpoolmates, your brother’s friends, celebrities, and other familiar faces.
- We were all beach bums in our past lives. (Who wants to argue otherwise?)
